Welcome to ScottishGuidance.co.uk

Thank you for visiting our Website. The SGA offers a national forum for guidance/ personal support/pastoral care/ support for pupils in Scottish schools. We wish to share good practice in all aspects of guidance and offer support for all professionals involved in supporting pupils. The Scottish Guidance Association committee consists of a range of teachers, involved in the personal support of children and young people in Scotland. We meet, about every two months, on a Saturday morning, in Stirling, where we make arrangements for the Workshop Day and share our views on current developments and our experiences.

Aims of the Scottish Guidance Association:

    • to support all those who have a professional concern for Guidance in Education.
    • to encourage communication within Guidance in Education.
    • to disseminate good practice in Guidance/personal support/pastoral care/support for pupils, by provision of a national forum.

    Mission Statement

The Scottish Guidance Association believes that every young person is entitled to the best guidance provision possible and that this is fundamental to every effective school and college.

We believe that not only should Guidance provision for young people be as effective as possible but also that the best possible working conditions, training opportunities and appropriate resources are provided for Guidance staff.
